This trip had two purposes:

  • Participating in the 5IEE (5th International EarthCache Event) in Denver (one day)
  • Road trip to a number of national parks etc., with focus on earth caching

Earth caches (within geocaching) focus on geology, and are often located on interesting places. Thus a trip combining interesting national parks and earth caching was feasible.

The trip basically started in Denver, and Rocky Mountains, and ended in Las Vegas (Red Rock Canyon) after 3 weeks, with a distance of around 4000 km (2500 miles). The Colorado River was always present.

We covered the parks below, and it is astonishing how different the parks are. It is really a fascinating landscape.
