The Andes luxury tour, November 10 - 28 2019

Overview

Cusco - Machu Picchu
Titicaca

Chile - Mendoza

This was a more luxury (or comfortable) tour than we use to have.

The tour took place close to the Andes, which we liked very much.

Parts of Peru, Chile and Argentina were covered, with flights between the countries. The Andes were crossed on two places by bus (southern Peru and east of Santiago, close to Mt Aconcagua).

The trip was organized by Världens resor, having an excellent Swedish guide living in Argentina. Due to the political situation in Boliva, where the borders were closed due to the forced resignation of president Evo Morales, and the violent political protests in Chile, changes were made in the last minutes of the trip. Bolivia was skipped and replaced by visiting the Peruan side of Titicaca lake and a bus tour across the Andes to Chile. In Chile we could not visit the central parts of Santiago by foot (on our own). Valparaiso, with road blockings, was skipped and replaced by other acitivites.

Most time was spent in Peru, which also was the most interesting country.

Two very impressive, unforgettable and unexpected moments were a big mass outside the Cusco cathedral and a huge, peaceful demonstraton on Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires. Two video captures from Cusco mass and Plaza de Mayo demonstrations are supplied.
